He founded the Cubic Worlds server on the 7th of May 2011 and is currently its main Operator and Chief of Staff. Regardless of any impressions that players may draw from interacting with him on the server, he is almost completely evil, and could explode into a treantish whirlwind of fury at any moment. Beware!

Over the years he has played Minecraft, Zolyx hasn't actually built anything particularly memorable of his own. His biggest completed project - a prison for rogue Steves built into a lake of lava - was made in a version of the game so early that it didn't even have the ability to save maps, and so is lost to the mists of time. == Event Synopsis ==
At a specific point on March 31st, the server crashed. Everyone reconnected only to find that the rules had changed '''WONDER'''ously, and that they had all been assigned various pony names. The rank system was changed too, with Members and VIPs listed as 'Pony', Officers as 'Unicorn', and Moderators as 'Pegasus'. The only person who remained untouched was [[User:Zolyx|Zolyx]]. The forum had changed as well to a gruesome pink and a new moniker, '''Pony Worlds Forum'''.

The building rules had also changed to specifically require that all structures must be composed of at least 50% pink wool. This led to massive overhauls in places such as the [[Ville d'Art]] and the [[Nolania Circulum]].

When Zolyx came on to witness the whole ordeal, he was completely oblivious to the changes made to both the server and forum, and questioned why people were shouting about ponies and continually reconnecting to get their name changed. It was then found out what was causing this mess.

From there, Zolyx, gold sword in hand, embarked on an epic quest which undoubtedly involved a volcano and armies of orcs to defeat and seal away the '''WONDER''' once and for all. Unfortunately, none of the rest of the users saw this, since they were trapped in the '''WONDER''''s clutches.

After long enough, the '''WONDER''' was fought off, and a celebratory LeafSpleef game was held on the [[Event Horizon]].

'''The WONDER''' is a strange phenomenon that seems to occur only at a specific time of the year, usually around the first day of a year's second quarter. It has proven to be impossible to predict exactly which years the WONDER will make an appearance, and even when its presence does manifest, it usually lasts no longer than one or perhaps two days at most. This makes it one of the rarest occurrences within Cubic Worlds.

Wherever the WONDER is involved you're very likely to also encounter bright rainbow colours, fantastical absurdity, and well-meaning japes - though some amount of mild annoyance isn't unheard of either. Distorted or recoloured images and screenshots are the WONDER's preferred way of announcing its imminent arrival, and its only apparent motivation is to turn our otherwise dreary world into a more interesting and amusing place.

One of the earliest incidents created by the WONDER was its [[The WONDERous Takeover|"Takeover"]] of the server in 2012, though there have been other cases that are not so well documented. These include:

* Influencing Zolyx in 2015 to announce uncharacteristically sweeping (and highly unpopular) server changes
* A second Takeover event in 2016 expanded with content from the Pokemon universe
* Activation of "Posh Mode" in 2019

The WONDER is best described as a trickster spirit. While the full extent of its power remains a mystery, it has previously shown itself capable of changing player names and ranks as well as automatically substituting certain words or phrases within Minecraft chat (appropriate to a whatever theme the WONDER is following for a given year).

Strangely, server staff are frequently unable or unwilling to acknowledge any ongoing wondrous effects until after things have returned to normal, so you should <s>be wary of</s> completely trust their behaviour at any time the WONDER is upon you, because ultimately, '''everything is fine'''.

In the early tournaments, matches could last minutes, leading to very long rounds and overall contests.

To remedy this, after the January 2017 tournament, "shrinkage" was introduced. After a certain time of fighting (usually about 90 seconds), the size of the Ice Rink shrinks by a couple of blocks diameter. This increases the ability for players to knock each other into the water. This shrinkage can repeat up to 5 times, every 60-90 seconds decreasing the diameter of the rink by 1-2- blocks.

Another peculiarity of early tournaments was that competitors used to be given special armour to prevent them from death during a fight (as shown in the gallery below). This then led to the unwanted side-effect of armour breaking in the middle of a round - and even when it didn't, the punches thrown by some competitors were inexplicably more powerful than others, causing death despite the armour's protection.

The Rice Bowl's arena was eventually infused with a magical healing aura some time around the ninth tournament, removing the need for armour to be used and bringing safety back to the sport once and for all.

When the server rules are broken, a player or staffer may report the incident using the #courtroom channel on our Discord server. A similar report can be made if a player has a complaint against a staffer that they feel did not abide by the [[Staff Code of Conduct]].

A staffer will check new reports usually within 24 hours after they are posted and make an appropriate ruling. Typical outcomes are:
* If we feel a warning is needed, a staffer will give one.
* Otherwise, if a warning is already in effect, a ban may follow.
* Depending on the case, it may be that no action is needed.
For more information on how warnings work and how long bans can be for various offences, check the [[Warnings and Ban Lengths]] page.

If the player involved (or one of their guardians) wants to discuss a ruling to add their side of the story then they're welcome to do so. We'll try to take everything into account fairly and we may adjust the ruling as a result. Keep in mind however that repeat offences or cases where we have very clear proof of wrongdoing are less likely to see any change in ruling.

All information that relates to a case of rulebreaking should be posted in public, and we reserve the right to use and repost any relevant private messages that may be made available. We understand that sometimes the players involved may not agree with this but we believe it's better to have things out in the open rather than to hold discussions behind closed doors - we want to avoid inaccurate or incomplete reports that might lead to unfair rulings.

Cubic Worlds is a family-friendly server with a PG rating. Because people may have differing opinions of what this means and what they consider child-safe, this page goes into more detail about what language is considered okay to use within our community.

We want to be a place where players of all ages and abilities are given a warm welcome and encouraged to enjoy the game in a safe, moderated environment. Some of those players will be quite young, and where children are concerned, we feel that if there's any doubt about what can be found offensive or not, the best course of action is to err on the side of caution.

To that end, the main points of our language policy are:

* Swearing isn't allowed, even if you're talking to people you know in real life who wouldn't have any problem with it.

We do our utmost to make Cubic Worlds a friendly and open-minded community for mature players as well as younger folk. While you're adventuring with us, sometimes you might want to discuss real-world concerns and problems in chat, and that's okay! There are certainly plenty of troubles around these days. Censorship definitely isn't something we're aiming for, but we do ask that you be respectful and bear the following points in mind:

Courtroom Process

When the server rules are broken, a player or staffer may report the incident using the #courtroom channel on our Discord server. A similar report can be made if a player has a complaint against a staffer that they feel did not abide by the [[Staff Code of Conduct]].

A staffer will check new reports usually within 24 hours after they are posted and make an appropriate ruling. Typical outcomes are:
* If we feel a warning is needed, a staffer will give one.
* Otherwise, if a warning is already in effect, a ban may follow.
* Depending on the case, it may be that no action is needed.
For more information on how warnings work and how long bans can be for various offences, check the [[Warnings and Ban Lengths]] page.

If the player involved (or one of their guardians) wants to discuss a ruling to add their side of the story then they're welcome to do so. We'll try to take everything into account fairly and we may adjust the ruling as a result. Keep in mind however that repeat offences or cases where we have very clear proof of wrongdoing are less likely to see any change in ruling.

All information that relates to a case of rulebreaking should be posted in public, and we reserve the right to use and repost any relevant private messages that may be made available. We understand that sometimes the player(s) involved may not agree with this but we believe it's better to have things out in the open rather than to hold discussions behind closed doors - we want to avoid inaccurate or incomplete reports that might lead to unfair rulings.

The question that our Members ask most often is "How do I become a Citizen?". Well, we use some simple guidelines to find out who is due to get their Citizenship:

* You have been a Member for a minimum of 3 months

A ''Citizen Day'' is held every few weeks during a weekend, generally before or after the advertised weekend event, so that the latest player or players to meet the Citizen promotion criteria can be duly congratulated and a suitable celebration thrown for them!

They are advertised in the server's [http://forum.cubicworlds.net/index.php?forums/the-event-and-contest-arena.10/ Events and Contests forum] so that hopefully the Citizens-to-be can attend, but if the timing isn't convenient, staffers will try to ensure that promotions are made at some other time during that weekend (or soon after).

* Post a thread in the Courtroom, on the forum, for public review

Do not be discouraged at filing a complaint because you think that members of staff are somehow untouchable. This may be true in other servers, but it certainly is not the case in Cubic Worlds. As long as you aren't simply trying to stir up trouble, we are honest enough not to censor any reasonable criticism or mistakes and are more than willing to try and improve our ability to serve the community based on your feedback.

== Privacy in General ==
Cubic Worlds is a public server on the internet. As with any other online Minecraft server, it is possible for parts of your data - i.e. things you have built, or messages you have posted in chat - to be put into the wider public domain by other players. Staff cannot and will not control the actions of players in this regard except in cases of obvious malicious intent. You should use your own common sense to manage your privacy given the above knowledge.

== YouTube and Twitch ==
* Recording in Cubic Worlds is allowed, but please respect other players. As a common courtesy you should always inform other online players if you intend to record a video or live stream on the server. If you're creating a video about a specific build that is not yours, make sure you ask the owner if they're happy for you to continue.
* It's not required but we'd appreciate it if any videos or streams that feature Cubic Worlds link back to our homepage, https://cubicworlds.net, in whichever way is best for you (either in the video itself or in the description).
* At least one of the server Ops should be informed before any recording.

Courtroom Process

When the server rules are broken, a player or staffer may report the incident using the #courtroom channel on our Discord server. A similar report can be made if a player has a complaint against a staffer that they feel did not abide by the [[Staff Policy]].

A staffer will check new reports usually within 24 hours after they are posted and make an appropriate ruling. Typical outcomes are:
* If we feel a warning is needed, a staffer will give one.
* Otherwise, if a warning is already in effect, a ban may follow.
* Depending on the case, it may be that no action is needed.
For more information on how warnings work and how long bans can be for various offences, check the [[Warnings and Ban Lengths]] page.

If the player involved (or one of their guardians) wants to discuss a ruling to add their side of the story then they're welcome to do so. We'll try to take everything into account fairly and we may adjust the ruling as a result. Keep in mind however that repeat offences or cases where we have very clear proof of wrongdoing are less likely to see any change in ruling.

All information that relates to a case of rulebreaking should be posted in public, and we reserve the right to use and repost any relevant private messages that may be made available. We understand that sometimes the player(s) involved may not agree with this but we believe it's better to have things out in the open rather than to hold discussions behind closed doors - we want to avoid inaccurate or incomplete reports that might lead to unfair rulings.

== Warnings ==
Depending on exactly what rules are being broken, warnings are usually the first course of action a staffer will take to handle problems on the server. Warnings last for '''1 month''' and basically put a player on notice that causing any further trouble within this period will lead to a ban.

For more serious offences such as hacking or widespread griefing, or for rulebreaking that is somehow time-sensitive, we reserve the right to skip the initial warning and start wielding the banhammer directly.

== Other factors we consider ==
Sometimes there are extra considerations which will influence the length of a ban. A repeat offender, for example, will likely get a longer ban than normal - though any ban's length may be reduced if staff agree that you have accepted your punishment gracefully and have made a genuine apology for your actions.

We use the table below as a reference. These multipliers are not cumulative and the highest value that applies should be used. As with bans this list is only a guide.
