The Gauntlet of Entropy is a massive series of small and large islands made mostly of End Stone, built as an ultimate challenge for the server. It is located mostly in The End of Voxellia, though a part of it also exists in the Event Horizon.

The first person who can reach the end under staff supervision without cheating will become the Gauntlet Grandmaster, and obtain a prize of immeasurable value. So far, nobody has claimed that title.

History

The Gauntlet of Entropy was initially built in the fall of 2013, for the Crimson Cup finale, as a successor to the Gauntlet of Chaos. It was initially set in New Avalon's End, and claimed many lives. After the move to Voxellia, and subsequently Fubaka's long hiatus, it was lost to the archives.

In July of 2016, it was brought back from the grave and reactivated. It is currently accessible by anyone who consults staff to give it a try.

Rules

  • No outside items of any kind.
  • No Ender Pearls.
  • No items given in the gauntlet should be taken out. Any leftovers are to be burned.
  • No breaking or placing of blocks (other than a certain pressure plate near the end).
  • No setting or using of homes anywhere other than the marked checkpoint positions.
  • No interfering with other players (helping other players is encouraged, however).
  • No using /call or /tpahere to skip or help others skip through the course.
  • You have as many tries as you want. The only way to lose is to give up.

Description

The gauntlet consists of six major sections, each with their own distinct flavor. Many of these areas remain untouched by legitimate gauntlet runners. Endermen crowd around the main areas of the gauntlet, and may often need to be repelled by snow golems or the players themselves. Gold Apples and snowballs, along with some other items, are provided as a courtesy to runners, but they may not then return to Voxellia with these items.

The sections are the following:

PHASE 1 (Novice)

The first part consists of small platforms made mainly of End Stone and Obsidian. Ladders and pistons must be contended with in some areas, and near the end, some potion dispensaries are utilized.

PHASE 2 (Adept)

The second area is a much-maligned walk across narrow iron chains, culminating in a drop of faith.

The INFINITE DARKNESS

This area takes place in the Event Horizon, and is a trawl through a very dark cave, with pitfalls and other hazards. It has recently been renovated to include some new blocks.

PHASE 3 (Expert)

This phase consists of heavy use of redstone-powered platforms, pistons and the works. It often needs to be manually reset by staff. There is a checkpoint in the middle.

PHASE 4 (Master)

(details unknown, as nobody has reached it yet)

PHASE 5 (Grandmaster)

(details unknown, as nobody has reached it yet)

Trivia

  • Strange and foreboding messages written by the Endermen adorn this gauntlet. It is probably best if you do not let their words bother you too much.
