The Via del Sole is a safe tunnel, running from x:2000,y:68,z:2000 all the way over to X:2400,y:65, Z:2000, at the beginning of the dark desert highway. It's a bit of a road to nowhere, but it is completely lit, completely sealed and wide enough to lead animals. The only tricky bit could be that the doors do autoclose to reduce the chance that a mob may follow you in. The picture is not of the tunnel, I haven't got pictures that big.
At x:2000, the beginning of the tunnel includes a safe haven for visitors, Sunny's Shack. It contains resources so you can water your animals, have a sleep or a relax by the spa pool and catch up on some food for yourself, if you don't mind having melon sandwiches. The only thing that we would ask is that you leave the memorial as you found it, as SunnySoulSheep would have done.
