Ranks are used in Cubic Worlds to identify various "tiers" of players.

There are currently six different player ranks on the Cubic Worlds server, each with varying permissions and powers. Because Cubic Worlds is a public server that does not use a whitelist, we use these multiple ranks to prefent griefing and hacking, and to allow server staff to run events.

To find out more information about the commands that each rank has access to, check the Features and Commands page.

Player Ranks

These are the ranks which make up the biggest portion of Cubic Worlds players.

Guest

Guests appear Grey in chat with the prefix [Guest]. All visitors to the server start as a Guest.

Guests cannot:

  • Destroy Blocks
  • Place Blocks
  • Set homes
  • Claim prizes from challenges

Guests can:

  • Expect to feel welcomed
  • Tour the server
  • Communicate with other players
  • Apply for Membership when they wish to start building

Member

Members appear White in chat. They have no prefix.

Members can:

  • Destroy Blocks
  • Place Blocks
  • Set up to 15 homes
  • Lock doors and chests
  • Claim prizes from challenges

VIP

VIPs appear Green in chat with the prefix [VIP].

VIPs can:

  • Use the /kick command
  • Detonate TNT
  • Check block log history

Staff Ranks

These ranks are held by those who take time to keep the server running smoothly and ensure the land is kept safe from griefers, hackers, and other undesirables.

To find out which players are on the staff, check the Staffers page.

Officer

Officers appear Yellow in chat with the prefix [Officer].

Officers can:

  • Teleport themselves
  • Teleport others
  • Use a ban-hammer

Moderator

Moderators appear Orange in chat with the prefix [Moderator].

Moderators can:

  • Replace items lost through griefing or server glitches
  • Use WorldEdit and other powerful administrative commands
  • Help run server events
  • Promote Guests to Members once they have applied
  • Watch for potential new staff members

Op

Ops appear Red in chat with the prefix [Op].

Ops can:

  • Do anything and everything when needed

Promotion

Earning promotion on Cubic Worlds is not a straightforward process. We take into account several things, including:

  • How active you are on the server
  • The quality of the things you build
  • Your maturity and behaviour in chat and in the world
  • Your willingness to help others directly or indirectly

That said, there are some time limit requirements that must be fulfilled before you become eligible for promotion to certain ranks.

  • VIPs are picked from players who have been on the server for at least 7 days
  • Officers are picked from players who have been on the server for at least 1 month
  • Moderators are picked from players who have been on the server for at least 2 months

In addition, unless special circumstances dictate otherwise, no player may be promoted more than one step in a single week.

If all of those criteria have been met you may be promoted when a suitable staff member next sees you online. However, it is worth keeping in mind that Cubic Worlds ranks are not designed to give you huge in-game benefits - a Member can build something just as effectively as a Moderator. In short, getting promoted shouldn't be your life goal. Have patience and enjoy your time on the server and you will be rewarded in due course!

Asking for promotion

As per the server rules, if you ask about being promoted at any time you will automatically be turned down and the likelihood of you being promoted in the future will decrease. In short, asking to be promoted is not recommended!
