Ranks
Ranks are used in Cubic Worlds to identify various "tiers" of players.
There are currently seven different player ranks on the Cubic Worlds server, each with varying permissions and powers. Because Cubic Worlds is a public server that does not use a whitelist, we use these multiple ranks to prefent griefing and hacking, and to allow server staff to run events.
To find out more information about the commands that each rank has access to, check the Features and Commands page.

Promotion
Earning promotion on Cubic Worlds is not a straightforward process. We take into account several things, including:
- How active you are on the server
- The quality of the things you build
- Your maturity and behaviour in chat and in the world
- Your willingness to help others directly or indirectly
That said, there are some time limit requirements that must be fulfilled before you become eligible for promotion to certain ranks.
- Citizens are picked from Members who have been on the server for at least 7 days
- Officers are picked from Citizens who have been on the server for at least 1 month
- Moderators are picked from Officers who have been on the server for at least 2 months
In addition, unless special circumstances dictate otherwise, no player may be promoted more than one step in a single week. It should also be noted - especially now - that unless extra help is needed in staff, the odds of being promoted past the Citizen level are very slim. Do not expect there to be any promotions unless there is a sizable gap in Staffer ranks.
If all of those criteria have been met you may be promoted when a suitable staff member next sees you online. However, it is worth keeping in mind that Cubic Worlds ranks are not designed to give you huge in-game benefits - a Member can build something just as effectively as a Moderator. In short, getting promoted shouldn't be your life goal. Have patience and enjoy your time on the server and you will be rewarded in due course!
Asking for promotion
As per the server rules, if you directly ask to be promoted at any time then you will automatically be turned down, and the likelihood of you being promoted in the future will decrease. In short, asking to be promoted is not recommended!
Asking about promotion is perfectly reasonable, as long it isn't done in excess - just keep in mind that Staffers will never explain any more about the process that what is described here. As long as you've read this section you should know all you need to enjoy your time in Cubic Worlds.
