Galleria is a large circular city located within the Blue Divide Ocean of Tesseract, connected on the east and west side to the mainlands by long quartz bridges; the east bridge leading directly into the Red Marble. It is the formal successor to the Ville d'Art in New Avalon, and Le Capitale De l'Art in Voxellia, meant to hold works of art by the server's playerbase.

Current Status

Construction of Galleria began on the opening day of Tesseract, on August 13th, 2016. The main city was completed on the 8th of October, at that point with many art works already complete. From there, work began on the north and south dock villages. The Galleria Wool Hall, which lies on an island connected to the north village, was completed on the 16th of October.

Construction of the sub-floor, Artreach, began on the 1st of November, 2016. While technically part of Galleria, it is counted as its own separate project.

Of the established mural surfaces, the two bridge murals were completed on December 20th. Most of the remaining mural space is along the outer walls of the city. The last of the larger plots was given out on the 4th of December 4th, 2016. The last unclaimed small plot was handed out on December 30th.

Starting January 2nd, 2017, previously reserved plots that are unfinished will start getting cleared.

Plot Rules

A plot is a circular area on the ground within the city. These are set up to hold artwork made by the players. To reserve a 3D plot, ask Fubaka. Only small plots may be claimed in this manner. Larger plots will be handed out only at Fubaka's discretion.

Small Plots

  • The height limit for building is 21 blocks from the ground (grass) level of the plot. Depth limit is down to sea level (y = 63)
  • Do not build outside of or replace the quartz boundary (exceptions may be granted for the sake of the art, ask Fubaka for details)
  • Anything may be used for building, except for active beacons
  • You may build anything as art, but Fubaka reserves the right to reject your work at his discretion and remove it (you'd have to try to do poorly for this to happen)
  • If you take too long to finish your work, it will be cleared and your reservation removed

Medium Plots

  • The height limit for building is 42 blocks from the ground (grass) level of the plot. Depth limit is down to sea level (y = 63)
  • You must build your structure to be at least 30 blocks tall (beacon beam does not count)
  • Do not build outside of or replace the quartz boundary (exceptions may be granted for the sake of the art, ask Fubaka for details)
  • A lit beacon must be used somewhere in the center of the plot. Lit beacons anywhere else are not allowed
  • Try your best to make something you are proud of. Fubaka will scrutinize lazy works

Large Plots

  • The height limit for building is 84 blocks from the ground (grass) level of the plot. Depth limit is down to y = 60
  • You are not obligated to build to any particular height.
  • Do not build outside of or replace the quartz boundary (exceptions may be granted for the sake of the art, ask Fubaka for details)
  • Feel free to use beacons in any part of the plot or not to. However, you may not have more than 4 lit beacons on your plot
  • Feel free to invite others to help you plan and/or build on this plot. Anyone who helps should be credited under your name, and will share whatever prizes are given out to you for your work
  • Your plot should be at least somewhat open to players, and allow them to walk into and out of it relatively easily. The easiest way to do this would be to build it as a park, or a building

Mural Rules

Murals are 2D works of art. Galleria has nine major areas where murals can be built, along the city's walls, and on the floors of the bridges connecting the city to the mainland. You may work on murals without specific permission, but you must still follow these rules when building.

  • Do not build outside of the specified boundaries, including in the 3rd dimension.
  • Build on top of the dirt/cobble base; do not replace the base.
  • Feel free to chip away the edges of existing mural work as needed, but do not destroy the mural itself.
  • Try to keep in theme with nearby mural work.

Trivia

  • Galleria's total area (not including the docks and the bridges) is 327x327 blocks.
  • Fubaka sucked many a players' dirt and quartz reserves dry in order to furnish the city.
  • The first finished plot, Light Entries, is also the structure that players warp into when entering Galleria via the Portal Tower.
  • The 16th finish plot, Tempestuous Turbine, was the first plot art built after the city's completion.
  • The 25th finished plot, Overgrown, was the first finished plot that also serves as a player house.
  • The 44th finished plot, Sol Ring, marked the point where Galleria contained more art than the Ville d'Art in Avalon.
  • The 47th finished plot, Lost in The City, is also a mini parkour gauntlet of sorts.
  • The 50th finished plot, Containment, was the first to have some level of redstone wiring used in it.
  • The 59th finished plot, Cor in Corpus, was the first to employ blocks from 1.12.
  • The 62nd finished plot, Flotarras, is named after an ancient build of Fubaka's that predates Cubic Worlds and as such, cannot be found there.
