The Spider Shrine is an elaborate underground structure built by Fubaka for the Arachnid Storm event. It can be reached via the gold block in the center of the Great Library when the lever on the second floor of that building is pulled.

Description

The shrine is built with large amounts of stone, stone slab, green and gray wool, and bookcases, among other things. Cobweb, (a block that had not been officially introduced at the time of construction) fills all of the rooms to add detail and serve as an obstacle in some parts. The main chamber has 3 doorways that lead to other parts of the shrine. These other rooms follow a Gauntlet-like style of challenges that the event participants had to solve in order to unlock all the doors.

The orifices in the walls were places where spiders would frequently crawl out of to antagonize the participants. After the event, however, all the spiders died out, so the shrine is now a relatively safe place to explore. (Although visitors are cautioned to watch out for the traps that still occupy the shrine.)

The final chamber, (the lowest one) contained a massive Queen Spider, but that spider is now just a corpse.

Trivia

  • There also used to be a decent number of pigs in the shrine's safe zones that would spawn on the grass pads.
  • Two of the doors are wired to play the Zelda solve puzzle chiptune when they are opened.
  • Fubaka used item spawn commands to build this place, as obtaining all the blocks necessary would have taken too long.
  • There is no natural way out of the shrine, so don't try to make one please! Just warp out instead.
