[[category:New Avalon]]
Nova is a communal city being built in the Novus Province of New Avalon, in the fields immediately surrounding the Ville d'Art. It was started by Fubaka in an attempt to bring the spirit of the old Greenview to New Avalon.
Layout
The city is divided into 6 areas, not including the pre-existing builds it encompasses. These areas are as follows:
- Two residential zones, where players may build their houses.
- A commons area, where general buildings, arenas, statues and whatnot may be built.
- A marketplace, where stores can be set up, with Chest Shops enabled within this region.
- A recreational zone, where the Nova Town Hall will eventually be built, and where gardens will eventually be planted.
- An agricultural zone, where farming, mining and other industrious activities may be done.
Current Status
Ever since its founding on June 16th, 2012, the city has seen minor growth. It has a few permanent residents, but it is not yet the great city Fubaka envisioned it to be. In an attempt to fix that, Fubaka has done several things over the months to help improve the city's intrinsic value. These things are as follows:
- The Emerald Jump Arena was built to encourage tournaments based on a new type of Minecraft sport. So far, only one tournament has been held, the Inaugural Emerald Jump Tournament.
- The marketplace area of Nova is the first area outside of the Cubic City Trading Tower where chest shops can be placed. This was requested by Fubaka soon after Cubic City was founded.
- On Novenber 1st, 2012, Fubaka scrapped enough diamond blocks from his own treasury, as well as donations from JakTheMad and Mechajin to pay for a portal to Nova from spawn. This portal should be available shortly.
Of course, Nova will be competing somewhat with the newly founded Cubic City, but there will always be perks to living in Nova that you simply cannot get there, such as:
- Access to the Ville d'Art and The Jukebox within.
- Access to the Greater Library and its massive public cane farm.
- Access to the Hall of Wool and the public cow farm.
- The ability to build with no real plot constraints, just general guidelines.
- The ability to set up your own store, as opposed to using the Cubic City Trading Tower.
Trivia
- Nova was built as a response to the perception at the time that the server was spiraling downward and dying, much like the reason Cubic City was founded.
- Citizens are welcome to create mural art on the Ville d'Art walls, so long as they know and follow the rules for mural building.
- Once Fubaka hosts his farewell event, ownership of Nova will be left to the Staffer board as a whole, with primary ownership being given to SunnySoulSheep. What they do with it then is up to the fates.
