Server Rules

This page describes the rules all non-staff players are expected to follow. If you were looking for a list of rules governing Cubic Worlds staff members, please see the Staff Policy.

Introduction

To ensure that your game experience is as good as it can be while adventuring in the Cubic Worlds server, players are expected to abide by our rules at all times. We hope that you will find that most things here boil down to simple common sense - it is not our intention to spoil the game by being too officious, but unfortunately there are always those who seek to cause trouble.

Players

• Be friendly and respectful to others.
• Please use English only when chatting.
• Do not swear or talk about obscene subjects.
• Do not ask for promotion or try to make yourself "look good" in the eyes of Staffers.
• Have fun!

Building and Destroying

• No X-raying - make no mistake that we consider this amongst the worst possible crimes you can commit on our server, and however clever you might think you are, we will find you. When we do, you will be permanently banned.
• No griefing - griefers will be given a warning then banned for a length of time relative to the seriousness of the grief. Multiple griefs may stack up in ban time. Griefing generally includes, but is not limited to:
  • Destroying or altering blocks placed by others without their permission (such as by adding torches, ladders, signs, and so on).
  • Adding to someone else's building without permission.
  • Using LWC commands to lock blocks that are not yours without permission.

• No stealing - this may be harvesting the wheat from another player's farm or otherwise taking items that are within another player's land.
• No hacking - using hacks such as flying or inventory editing will get you banned, usually without warning.
• No unlabelled traps designed to kill players - though traps in obstacle courses are fine.
• No buildings designed to automate the direct farming of Kubes - though grinders for mob drops are fine.
• Keep your builds in theme - if you don't know if it is in theme, ask your neighbours in-game or on the forums. This only applies if you are building in a theme-controlled area, such as a player-run settlement. If you choose to build in the wilderness, away from other players, you may build anything as long as it stays family friendly.
• No 1-block towers - they're ugly and unnecessary and will be removed on sight.
• No diamond-block houses - please use your diamonds in a less outlandish way.
• If you chop down a tree, take all of it - floating leaves are Zolyx's pet peeve...
• No strip-mining of beaches - if you need sand, mine it from a desert, not from a beach.

The Golden Rule

• Ignorance is no excuse - keep yourself informed and be familiar with the current rules of the server at all times. Do your best to keep Cubic Worlds the great place it is so that everyone can have a happy Minecrafting time!

YouTube and Player Privacy

• YouTube videos are allowed, but please gain permission before filming. As a common courtesy, players should always inform others if they intend to record a video or run a live stream involving Cubic Worlds, and should seek to obtain permission to film any structures that are not their own. Videos should contain a link, either in the video itself or in its description, that directs a viewer to this page on our forum for viewers to find out more information about the server.
• We cannot and will not regulate the actions of our members with regard to creating videos. Except in cases where it is felt the author has done so for malicious purposes or purely for monetary gain, members may pursue video projects to whatever degree they wish.
• The server owner, Zolyx, should be informed prior to any filming. Additionally, the server owner reserves the right to ask the author of any video(s) to remove their work from the public domain insofar as it is possible for them to do so.
• Cubic Worlds is a public server. As with any other online Minecraft server, it is possible for your "identity" - i.e. things you have built, or messages you post in chat - to be put into the public domain by other players. Staffers cannot and will not regulate the actions of players in this regard, except in cases of obvious malicious intent. You should use your own common sense to manage your privacy given the above knowledge. If you are uncomfortable with this, we recommend that you find a different server.

The Courtroom Procedure

Reports: When the server rules are broken, a player may report the incident using the Courtroom section of the forum. A similar report can be filed if a player has a complaint against a Staffer that they feel did not abide by the Staff Policy. Specific information on how to lay out your report is given on this page of our forum.

Rulings: One or more Staffers will review each report after it is posted, and when a decision is reached, a ruling will be made. There are two common outcomes:

• The report is marked as requiring no further action, or
• A punishment is outlined and enforced, and the first post of the thread is updated.

Appeals: Except for some cases of repeat offences, all rulings may be appealed by the player in question. There is no specific format required other than for the player to give as much information as they can as to why they believe the ruling should be changed.

Open arbitration: In an effort to ensure that incidents are arbitrated in the fairest and most even-handed way, all reports, rulings, and subsequent appeals should be posted in public within the relevant Courtroom thread. Staffers reserve the right to repost any forum Private Messages relating to the report onto the public thread. Though we understand that sometimes the player(s) involved may find this disagreeable, we believe it is preferable to holding discussions behind closed doors; doing so may lead to inaccurate or incomplete reports that, in turn, lead to flawed rulings.
